Mr. Shaaban commenced his career in Plastic Surgery in Manchester in October 1997. He was then appointed as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at Leeds Teaching Hospital and Honorary Senior Lecturer at Leeds University. He later moved to Liverpool as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at Whiston Hospital in December 2008. He is a member of British Association of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (BAPRAS).

In the NHS, Mr. Shaaban worked in the challenging field of reconstruction following trauma and cancer surgery. His interest lies in the field of facial, breast and body contouring cosmetic surgery.

In 2019 Mr Shaaban created Aset Hospital, bringing together some of the UK's leading cosmetic plastic surgeons to form a Centre of Excellence in Surgery, providing patients with access to surgery performed by the best surgeons in their cosmetic surgery specialist fields. Mr Hassan has built an enviable reputation in the more complex cosmetic surgery of 'Mummy Makeovers', where combined breast and abdominoplasty surgeries are performed - Mr Hassan performs more 'Mummy Makeovers' in the UK than any other surgeon in the North West.


Highly respected by his colleagues, Mr. Shaaban is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and was awarded the colleges coveted “Hallett Prize” for his performance in the fellowship exam. Mr Shaaban has been awarded a masters degree in surgery, followed by a MD Degree in Plastic Surgery and an advanced BTech certificate in Medical Lasers.

Mr. Shaaban has published over 20 international peer reviewed papers in Plastic Surgery Journals.

Mr.Shaaban believes it is extremely important to ensure his patients fully understand any treatment they are to have. This philosophy means he spends time to explain procedures fully and answer all questions in a clear and understandable way, so patients are able to make informed decisions about their surgery. Through this, Mr Shaaban hopes to alleviate any fears patients may have and maximise the benefits of their surgical journey.
